CONTINUING EDUCATION

Continuing Education details for the 2024 event are currently being finalized.

Please see below for certified sessions from HCD 2023 in New Orleans.

2023 HCD Conference

25 hours CEU (AIA and IDCEC), 13.5 hours CEU (EDAC), 14 contact hours (Continuing Nursing Education)

The Healthcare Design Conference plans its educational content to comply with the accreditation requirements accepted by most major credentialing organizations. Because continuing education requirements differ among state and national agencies, attendees should contact their credentialing agencies for specific acceptance requirements. Attendees receive CE credits for participating in the following educational opportunities: facility tours, pre-conference workshops, keynotes, and educational breakout sessions.

To receive Continuing Education Credits, the following criteria must be met:

    • Conference registration fees must be paid in full. Attendees must attend the entire session (i.e., no leaving before the session ends).
    • Attendee’s badge must be scanned by the room monitor at the start of every session. It is the attendee’s responsibility to ensure their badge is scanned.
    • All CE provider forms must be completed and legible to receive your certificates. Conference attendees who do not fulfill these requirements will not receive a certificate of attendance. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Architects

To receive CE credit, the room monitor will need to scan your conference badge at the start of the session. Conference staff will submit your attendance to AIA electronically if you provided your AIA member number when you registered for the conference. 25-credit hours are available for AIA members. It is recommended that you keep a copy of the AIA verification form for your records, so you can track which session you attended. AIA CE credits will be recorded in the AIA transcript system within 8-10 weeks of attending the conference.

CE credits will be issued by the American Institute of Architects Provider Quality Reporting Statement (PQRS). The Center for Health Design is a registered provider with The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems. Certificates of Completion for non-AIA members are available upon request. Facility Tours are included for Architects.

EDAC: Evidence-based Design Accreditation + Certification

13.5 EDAC credit hours are available. EDAC-certified individuals must retain their EDAC verification form after the conference. The candidate must self-submit the credits online through Scantron at the time of their EDAC renewal. Renewal notices with login instructions will be sent from Scantron four months prior and one month before the candidate’s renewal date.

If attendees have questions or concerns about this process, please contact: [email protected] for assistance.

Interior Designers

At the beginning of each presentation, there will be a QR class code specific to each presentation that you will scan and upload into the IDCEC mobile attendance app, to record your attendance. Also, it is recommended that you also have your IDCEC Verification Form STAMPED by the room monitor after each presentation you attend. You will keep this form for your records as you will self-submit each session you attend. This is the only proof of attendance that will be accepted for completion of your CEU credit.

25 credit hours are available for all IDCEC organizations: ASID/IDC/IIDA. You need to self-report your credits to the IDCEC system after the conference.

If you have questions about reporting your credits, contact the interior design association that is responsible for monitoring.

The Healthcare Design Conference + Expo is an annual conference focused exclusively on the design of hospital and clinic environments. The educational program is driven by industry experts who share case studies, research, best practices, and new approaches throughout the three-day learning experience.

To create the annual program, a call for presentations is opened, with submissions selected via a rigorous review process. All conference sessions must qualify for continuing education units, with four distinct learning objectives and one hour of content delivered.

The Center for Health Design is HCD's educational partner for the conference and manages the call for presentation process. Follow the link below to view the form on The Center’s website and submit a presentation proposal.

Top-of-mind topics for sessions include but are not limited to: patient safety and satisfaction, ambulatory care, remodeling, renovation and conversions, impact of technology, clinical perspectives, the high-performance hospital and sustainable practices, design for wellness, innovations in facility planning and management, design challenges and solutions, specialty facilities and departments (i.e., oncology, pediatrics, behavioral health, OR, ED), strategies for financing and operations, international trends and practices, and projects and initiatives that advance equality and social justice.
